Photonics Systems Group and Electro Scientific Industries sign license agreement for circuit trim product range

Photonics Systems Group, a market leader in building laser equipment in the field of micro-materials processing, announced today the signing of an agreement granting the group exclusive license rights to the circuit trim product portfolio of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI), a manufacturer of laser-based micro manufacturing systems and component test systems. The goal of the agreement is to ensure worldwide service and support for ESI’s existing circuit trim customers and to further develop the product market for the companies of the group.

Acquired by MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) in February 2019, ESI has 50 years of expertise in laser trimming. From telecommunications to automotive to aerospace, its circuit trim solutions serve a wide range of end markets. “We are pleased to pass on our many years of circuit trim know-how to Photonics Systems Group to maintain service quality for our existing customers”, said Steve Harris, Vice President and General Manager of the Equipment & Systems Division at MKS Instruments.

With the license agreement, the Photonics Systems Group receives access to patents and know-how for the production, support and service of the ESI LT22XX, LT31XX and LT41XX systems. This will enable the continuous support and service for customers of these systems.

“This agreement is a great benefit to the group”, explained Markus Nicht, CEO of Photonics Systems Group. “With the acquisition of the rights for this already-established product line, we are not only able to expand our expertise but are also strengthen our position within the European, and especially within the US market, to establish ourselves in the manufacturing environment for laser trimming systems”, he concluded.
